Doctrinal Statement
Doctrine of the Scriptures
We believe the sixty-six books of the Bible to be the written Word of God and that it is complete, infallible, and the final authority. We believe every word to be fully inspired of God and to be interpreted using the literal, historical, grammatical and dispensational method. (I Thess. 2:13; II Tim. 3:16,17; II Peter 1:20-21)
Doctrine of God
We believe in one God: holy, just, infinite, personal, and living, the creator of all. We believe in the doctrine of the Trinity: Father, Son and Holy Spirit and that God is co-eternal, co-existent, and co-equal in His being. (Is. 48:16,17; John 1:1; Acts 5:3,4)
Doctrine of Christ
We believe that Jesus Christ was begotten of the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary, and that He is true God and true man. We believe in the substitutionary death of the Lord Jesus Christ for our sins, in His bodily resurrection from the dead, in His ascension into Heaven, in His present life as our High Priest and Advocate, and in His personal, visible and pre-millennial return to Earth. (Matt. 1:20-23; Phil. 2:6-8; I Cor. 15:3,4; Acts 1:9-11; Heb. 8:1; I John 2:1; Rev. 20:6)
Doctrine of the Holy Spirit
We believe the Holy Spirit is the third person of the Trinity and that He baptizes all believers into the body of Christ at the moment of salvation. We believe the Holy Spirit permanently indwells all believers and that He is sovereign in the giving of spiritual gifts. These are the gifts of edification, which are for the building up of the body of Christ. Sign gifts (tongues, interpretation of tongues, healing, miracles, etc.) were given to some of the first generation of Christians but not to those succeeding generations. Also some gifts were for the founding of the church and are no longer required. (I Cor. 12:13; John 14:16,17; I Cor. 12:11; Heb. 2:3,4; Eph. 4:11; 2:20)
Doctrine of Sin
We believe sin to be anything contrary to the character of God. Some sins specifically condemned by Scripture and injurious to the body of Christ are homosexuality, fornication, adultery, idolatry, witchcraft, the misuse of drugs, strife, drunkenness, gossiping, and lying. (Gal. 5:19-21; Rev. 21:8; Rom. 1:28,31)
Doctrine of Man
We believe that man was directly created by God in His image and likeness and as such was created sinless. We further believe that through a voluntary act of disobedience against God, man fell from that original state, forfeiting his fellowship with God and incurring the penalty of physical and spiritual death. The consequence is that all mankind are born sinners and their souls are destined for conscious eternal torment in the lake of fire. (Gen. 1:26,27; Rom. 5:12; Rev. 20:10)
Doctrine of Salvation
We believe Jesus Christ is God's only provision for man's salvation and that on the cross, Christ took on Himself the sins of all mankind and died in our place. We also believe eternal salvation is the free gift of God, apart from works, and is possessed by all who have by faith received the Lord Jesus Christ as their personal Savior. We further believe that salvation once possessed can never be lost or forfeited. (Acts 4:12; I John 2:2; I Pet. 2:24; Eph. 2:8,9; John 1:12; John 10:27-29; I Peter 1:3-5)
Doctrine of the Church
We believe only those people possessing salvation are Christians, and that each Christian is a member of the Church of Jesus Christ. As God brings Christians together in any given area they must unite and form a local church. We believe a local church is to be organized under the leadership of spiritually qualified men. The church is organized for evangelism and edification and provides a base of operation for each believer to grow and become equipped so that he can maintain a balanced life and minister to all people.
We believe baptism and the Lord's supper are Christ's only ordinances to the church and that believers are to be obedient in regard to both. We believe baptism is a step of obedience whereby the believer is immersed in water to illustrate his death, burial, and resurrection with Christ and his desire to walk in newness of life. We believe the Lord's Supper is a provision of bread and cup, used to represent the body and blood of Christ, and that it is a commemoration of the Lord's death until He comes. (Eph. 4:11-13; Heb. 10:24,25; Matt. 28:19; Rom. 6:3-5; Acts 8:36,37; I Cor. 11:23-26)
Doctrine of Future Things
We believe God has a plan for future events involving the saved and the unsaved. We believe Christ shall suddenly take away His church (the saved) to be with Him. Those left behind shall enter the Great Tribulation of seven years. Christ shall then return with His Church and establish a thousand year kingdom. At the end of this time the unsaved shall be judged at the Great White Throne and the saved shall spend eternity in the presence of Christ. We also believe in two resurrections: the resurrection of the just to eternal life and the resurrection of the unjust to condemnation. (I Thess. 4:13-18; Rev. 3:10; II Thess. 2:1-12; Rev. 19:11-16; Rev. 20:7-15; 21:1ff)
